CASA volunteers are dedicated men and women willing to advocate for the best interests of abused or neglected children. CASA volunteers are given support, guidance, tools, and training from professionals in the field to help them understand and work effectively within the child welfare system. Once a volunteer has completed 30 hours of training, he or she is sworn in as an officer of the court by one of our local judges.
Every year the State of Texas removes thousands of children from their homes because of abuse or neglect. The welfare system is an overburdened system. A CASA volunteer on a case affords the judge a comprehensive picture of the best interests of the child.
